The Unit
Measured in koku
In old Japan, a domain was not measured in acres or gold. It was measured in koku: the rice its land could yield in a year. A retainer's stipend, a house's standing, the worth of an entire fief, all of it was counted in koku. The size of a house was the size of its harvest.
NOBORU is measured the same way. The project is divided into 30,000 koku. We are offering 15,000 of them, half of everything the series is, at $1 apiece. Your koku are your share of the harvest: when the series earns, you are paid in proportion to what you hold.
A minimum stake is 10 koku, $10. There is no maximum. Your koku belong to you for as long as the project exists.
The Numbers
What the series has to earn
The main engine is YouTube. Five episodes go up free for the world, YouTube pays for the watch time, and the watch time pays the holders. Long form cinematic work typically nets a few dollars per thousand views; the table below uses $3 per thousand as its working number.
| The series earns | Per $100 staked | Total views | Per episode |
| $15,000 | $100 · break even | ~5.0 million | ~1.0 million |
| $18,000 | $120 · your money plus 20% | ~6.0 million | ~1.2 million |
| $42,000 | $200 · double your money | ~14.0 million | ~2.8 million |
For scale: a leading high production AI series on YouTube is drawing between 400,000 and 7.6 million views per episode right now. NOBORU breaks even at one million per episode. The middle of that range pays every holder back with room to spare, and the top of it clears the doubling line several times over.
These are small numbers for a series. A single episode finding its audience can carry every milestone on this table, and there are five, plus two more seasons in the works. The raise is small because the method is new. That is the entire opportunity.
The Story
What you are backing
Feudal Japan, the end of a century of war. Noboru is a boy born heir to a small warrior house: lands, retainers, a village that answers to his name. When his father dies, the one person meant to protect him decides the house would sit better without him, and the boy runs for his life with hired steel close behind.
The road delivers him to a quiet farm and an old man who wants nothing to do with him. Hayato has spent twenty years being forgotten, and forgetting is the only peace he has. Five episodes carry the two of them down one road: the men sent after the boy grow sharper each time, the old man's past walks closer with every mile, and the whole story finally rests on a single drawn sword.
The heart of a young man is made strong by hearing hundreds of stories of great bravery.
That is what this series is for. Underneath the swords, NOBORU teaches what we want every son and daughter to walk away holding:
勇Courage
Evil is real, and it can be answered. Someone has to stand between it and the innocent.
義Duty
A man's word holds even when it costs him. Especially when it costs him.
恩Sacrifice
Strength exists to be spent for someone else. That is what it is for.
道Legacy
What an old man carries only matters if he hands it to someone young enough to carry it on.
The cold open is finished and public. Watch it, then judge whether the rest deserves to exist.
